Keep in mind that a Checkered Men’s Blazer is an excellent choice for those who don’t want to give up wearing jeans, yet still want to look elegant. Not every man feels comfortable in classic tailored trousers with a sharp crease. Traditional jeans can be effortlessly paired with a checkered blazer without breaking the rules of good style.
The only blazers that should be avoided with jeans are very formal ones, made from extremely delicate fabrics such as silk or velvet. Wool checkered blazers, on the other hand, are timeless and will never go out of fashion. An additional advantage is their availability — almost every blazer manufacturer includes checkered wool models in their collections, often at very reasonable prices.
A Checkered Men’s Blazer – My Choice
I am a big fan of blue jeans and have several shades in my wardrobe, ranging from deep navy to very light blue. Since my wool checkered blazer is fairly light, I have chosen dark cornflower-blue jeans to match it. The base fabric of the blazer is a light grey-blue, intersected with a navy check that perfectly complements the colour of the jeans.
The wool men’s blazer is produced by a well-known English brand from the East End of London, Spitalfields. The brand features an interesting logo depicting a bulldog wearing a bowler hat. The blazer is beautifully finished — all details, including the lining, are made from high-quality materials. The buttons are particularly noteworthy: three are navy and one is brown, all sewn on with pink thread, which serves as a distinctive decorative detail.
The blazer is very well tailored, with a classic Regular Fit cut. I wear size 52 at 192 cm and 90 kg. The combination of a wool checkered blazer and jeans, does not require elegant dress shoes. A good pair of sneakers is more than enough — preferably made of natural leather, black or navy, with white soles. The shoes should be sporty yet refined, and above all, clean. Smart sneakers add the desired lightness and a casual, sporty character to the outfit.
A Checkered Men’s Blazer – How to Wear It
Under the blazer, I have chosen a navy long-sleeve top of a neutral shade that works perfectly with both the grey tone of the blazer and the colour of the jeans. This blazer would work just as well with a white long-sleeve top. When the weather is colder, I wear a navy coat over the blazer.
There is one simple rule to remember here: the coat must be longer than the blazer. Otherwise, the overall look will appear unbalanced and inelegant.
